Ralph Poole is a Lead Consultant in Knowledge Management and Legal Information Services at eSentio Technologies where he delivers knowledge management solutions to law firms in the Amlaw 100. He has over 35 years of general management, consulting, and program management experience implementing knowledge processes, knowledge management platforms, and content enrichment solutions. He held technology leadership positions and led consulting assignments in the world’s premiere management consulting, information technology and legal firms. Prior to joining eSentio Technologies, Ralph was a Partner at Iknow LLC and held positions as Chief Knowledge Officer at CapGemini and Ernst & Young LLC. In these roles, he was responsible for selling and delivering technology strategy, business transformation, and knowledge management solutions to clients. At Bain & Company and The Boston Consulting Group, Ralph created and managed the business research function, practice experience sharing, knowledge management and training.

Ralph’s information technology experience includes leadership of bespoke software development projects and configuration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) packages with primary emphasis on delivering enterprise search, knowledge management, business process redesign, text analysis, text mining, and auto-categorization solutions to improve the findabiltiy of content. To ensure management has the information required to manage its business, he delivers business intelligence applications, dashboards, and data visualization technologies. Ralph combines process transformation and innovative change management techniques to ensure successful client adoption of technology change. His work in knowledge management, metadata management, and executive education has been documented in the Harvard Business Review, CIO, Fortune, and Harvard Business School. He speaks and writes regularly on these topics.

Ralph is on the faculty at Columbia University’s Information and Knowledge Strategy graduate program where he teaches Findability and Innovation (IKNS 4302) and Knowledge-Driven Digital Product Innovation: Idea to Profitability (IKNS 4338). These courses focus on implementing enterprise findability solutions and building innovative business models that use metadata and analytics to create business value.
